Bowler Hat Cooking Stove. Inventor Alistair McBride with his stove built into a bowler hat for the City businessman who wants tea on the go. The umbrella provides a convenient support for the kettle and the spirit powered stove, built into the traditional bowler has sufficient fuel to boil three kettles a day. Photographed 1962.

Quasar-Unipower Manufacturer -Universal Power Drives Ltd (England) Production 1967–1968 Class Special Production Engine(s) 1.1 L Inline Four Cylinder Length 64 inches (1624 mm) Width 66 inches (1675 mm) Height 74 inches (1878 mm) This box-like car, designed by French-Vietnamese designer and engineer Quasar Kahn, was produced in limited numbers between 1967 and 1968 by Universal Power Drives of Perivale, Middlesex, England who also made the Unipower sports car. The car had a unique cube like appearance and making use of sliding glass doors. It is probably unique amongst car designs in being wider than it is long. The seats were plastic and inflatable. The engine used was a four cylinder 1100 cc BMC model with automatic transmission. Modified Mini subframes carried the suspension components and 10inch Mini wheels were used.

Flying Shopping Basket. Shirley Wilsher decided to make light of her shopping trip by using some helium balloons left over from her son, Matthew’s, fifth birthday. It worked a treat until a sudden breeze snatched the basket from his hand. Their weekend lunch was last seen soaring over the rooftops. Photographed in August 1971.
